It is a coastal district of the municipality of Manilva, Málaga. It is 97 km from the capital of Malaga. In 2012 it had a population of 6,167 inhabitants.

Geography
It borders to the northeast with Casares by the Manilva River and to the southwest with the Castillo de La Duquesa and the Puerto Deportivo de La Duquesa.

History

The remains of a Roman villa related to the site around the Castillo de La Duquesa have been found; It is a villa with an atrium and several rooms with mosaics, as well as a pool for obtaining salted fish or gárum.

At the end of the 19th century, the Larios family, industrialists from Malaga and Campo de Gibraltar, founded the Guadiaro Industrial and Agricultural Society, which acquired the Colonia San Luis de Sabinillas in 1878, equipped with a sugar factory to process the sugar cane it produced. S.I.A.G. obtained in the plains of the Guadiaro River and in the coastal areas.

Transport
Sabinillas is well connected by roads from the main traffic routes. It can be accessed directly from the A-7 and from the AP-7 via the A-377 passing through Manilva.

The neighborhood is also connected to Málaga, Estepona, Algeciras and La Línea through three lines run by CTSA-Portillo.

San Luis de Sabinillas celebrates its fair in August in honor of the patron saint San Luis in the Vicente Espinel square, with performances and concerts, mass and procession, sporting events and a daytime fair.​ In July there is a procession to the Virgen del Carmen. In addition, the Night of San Juan is also celebrated in June; the Full Moon Festival and Carnival Night in July; the Medieval Market August.

Gastronomy
The gastronomy of the place is governed mainly by dishes of the Spanish Mediterranean diet, among which fried seafood and cooked fish are especially notable. The traditional Andalusian gazpacho also makes a place for itself.

Leisure
The main tourist and leisure attraction is Sabinillas Beach and the marina located between El Castillo and Sabinillas.
